Nickelback Video Responds To NFL Thanksgiving Petition

nickelbacWhen Nickelback were confirmed as the half-time ‘entertainment’ for the upcoming thanksgiving American Football game between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers, Detroit fans responded with almost universal criticism at the news, and reportedly launched an online petition to have them replaced which attracted over 55,000 signatures.

“This game is nationally televised, do we really want the rest of the US to associate Detroit with Nickelback?” the petition read. “Detroit is home to so many great musicians and they chose Nickelback?!?!?! Does anyone even like Nickelback?”

And now, in the face of seemingly universal condemnation, the Canadian band have produced a short, self-deprecating video which has been put together with the help of actor and comedian Paul Scheer.

In the video, the group are seen attempting to revamp their image with a stereotypically charisma-free record label executive, who attempts to lift Nickelback out of ‘crisis’ mode with a series of off-the-cuff plans.

The video has been hosted by Funnyordie.com and can be viewed here.
