Keith Richards has apparently opened the door for former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman to return to the band he left in the early Nineties, as the remaining members press on with rehearsal plans ahead of a possible 50th anniversary tour next year.

While Richards has confirmed Ronnie Wood, Charlie Watts and himself are on board for the new sessions, it remains unclear as to whether frontman Sir Mick Jagger will also join them. However, when asked by Spinner whether Jagger would take part, he declared ‘everybody’s welcome’, and added that includes Wyman and the band’s short-lived guitarist Mick Taylor.

“Of course,” he said. “I mean, everybody’s welcome. I was going to ask Bill Wyman to come by too. And Mick Taylor. The whole lot. They’re all Stones, you know? Why not?”

“The idea is to go in December,” he continued on the rehearsals. “I said, ‘Jesus Christ, we haven’t played together for a couple of years. We better get our chops together.’ So it basically is just like that, it’s just a jam.”

Bill Wyman announced his departure from The Rolling Stones officially in 1992, and has never been permanently replaced.
