Bruce Springsteen will return to the UK for headline appearances at the Isle Of Wight and Hard Rock Calling festivals next year, it has been announced.

Springsteen will headline the final night of the 2012 Isle Of Wight festival on June 24th, with an appearance at Hyde Park, London for Hard Rock Calling following on July 14th.

In addition, Springsteen will also play two of his own outdoor UK shows; at Sunderland’s Stadium Of Light on June 21st, and Manchester’s Etihad Stadium a day later.

The headline gigs are expected to form part of a wider European tour which is set to be confirmed within the next few weeks, as Springsteen puts the finishing touches to his latest studio album. They will be his first major UK shows since the sad death of influential E Street member Clarence Clemons earlier this year.

Back in 2009, Springsteen treated Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage to one of its all-time great headline performances, and along with fellow bill-toppers Neil Young and Blur, formed one of the long-running event’s best weekend line-ups.

Isle Of Wight tickets will go onsale from next Friday (November 25th) at 9am, with Hard Rock tickets available from December 3rd.
