Beady Eye guitarist Andy Bell has moved to distance his bandmate Liam Gallagher from the disagreement with Adam Ant which led to Gallagher describing the 80s star as ‘nutty’.

Some UK outlets have since picked up on the comments, with Sue Baker of the ‘Time To Change’ campaign telling The Sun: “It’s not helpful for people brave enough to be open to be met with name calling. Many celebrities, like Adam Ant, have spoken out about their mental health problems and we are so grateful that they do.”

The argument stems from Adam Ant declaring he would like to deal with Gallagher ‘man to man’ after a dispute over a track, which featured a contribution from a member of Oasis, being included on Ant’s latest album.

However Andy Bell, who was the former Oasis member in question, has insisted Liam Gallagher had no idea about the connection, and that it was his decision alone to ban Adam Ant from using the track.

“I have never met or worked with Adam Ant,” said Bell in a statement. “We have a mutual friend who I had played around on a track with who then passed the music over to Adam without my knowledge.”

“I then explained the track couldn’t be used for his album (this was just a rough demo) and thought the matter was closed. Adam then mentioned in the press he had recorded with one of Oasis, but Liam Gallagher had banned the track from being used.”

“Liam had no idea about my vague connection until this happened. He has never met him either, or even heard the track. It was totally my decision not to allow the track to be used, and I’m annoyed at Liam being dragged into this situation which has nothing at all to do with him.”

Beady Eye are currently on a tour of the UK and will play the Birmingham O2 Academy tonight (November 14th).
