Arctic Monkeys Would Like Another Shot At Headlining Glastonbury

arcticmonkeys3Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner has said he would like another go at headlining Glastonbury as he feels they didn’t get it ‘quite right’ when they topped the bill at Worthy Farm back in 2007.

Since the release of ‘Suck It and See‘ this year, there has been a growing sense that the Arctic Monkeys are finally coming to terms with their status as one of the UK’s biggest bands, with a new found freedom and confidence on the larger stages leading to some of their best outdoor shows to date during 2011.

And with Turner especially now looking every inch the crowd pleasing frontman, he has said a return to the Glastonbury festival is something he would relish in the future.

“I mean, there’s many things,” he told GQ when asked what he’d like to do in his career that he hasn’t yet achieved. “There’s a lot left, yeah. I’d really like another shot at headlining Glastonbury. I don’t think we got that quite right when we did it.”

Turner and his Arctic Monkeys bandmates will have to wait at least a year to fulfill their ambitions, with Glastonbury set for a summer’s rest in 2012, the first such break since 2006.
