Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds Make North American Debut

Noel Gallagher took his High Flying Birds to North America for the first time last night (November 7th), performing the opening date of a short debut tour at the Massey Hall, Toronto. Gallagher had already treated an intimate crowd to an acoustic set at Virgin Mobile’s Mod Club on Friday (11/05) .

Gallagher stuck to the same setlist which received rave reviews on his recent maiden UK jaunt, combining a selection of established Oasis favourites with the majority of his new self-titled solo album.

Blur’s Alex James ‘Appalled’ By Financial Collapse Of Harvest Festival

Blur‘s Alex James has said he is ‘appalled’ by the conduct of promoters Big Wheel, who organised the Harvest Festival which was held on his Oxfordshire farm back in September.

The company has since gone in to receivership, meaning creditors have been left unpaid for the services they provided to the event.

David Bowie To Leave EMI For Sony?

Rock icon David Bowie is to leave EMI, according to a report in the Financial Times today.

The paper claims Universal Music and Sony Music are in talks to take Bowie and his back catalogue on when his current EMI deal expires next January.

If the story proves to be accurate, the departure of Bowie would be another blow for EMI after popstar Robbie Williams also left not too long ago after a hugely successful solo career spent with the label.

The Stone Roses Confirm First Summer Festival Gigs

The Stone Roses have officially confirmed their first comeback shows outside of their native Manchester, and will headline next year’s T In The Park and Benicassim festivals.

After their three Manchester Heaton Park gigs sold out in record time last month, the Roses have now revealed they will travel north of the border to Scotland on the weekend of July 6th-8th next year for T In The Park, with Benicassim following shortly after between July 12th-15th.

The Walkmen To Begin Recording New Album

New Yorkers The Walkmen will head back into the studio to begin recording a new album within the next few weeks, reports Pitchfork.

The band are said to be aiming for a summer 2012 release, with The Shins and Fleet Foxes cohort Phil Ek set to man the producer’s chair for the sessions.
