The Stone Roses‘ Heaton Park reunion gigs have become the fastest selling rock shows in UK history, according to reports today.
Earlier this week, the full classic Roses line-up announced their return to a packed London press conference, unveiling plans for two massive hometown shows at Heaton Park in June next year, to be followed by a world tour and a possible new album.
Those shows went on sale this morning (October 21st), and promptly sold out within 15 minutes. Due to demand, a third date was quickly added, going on to sell out just over half an hour later. In total, 220,000 tickets were snapped up in 68 minutes.
“We plan on spending the rest of the day jumping up and down with our hands in the air,” frontman Ian Brown has commented.
The Stone Roses are well known for having one of the most musically proficient line-ups in British rock, with the almost un-rivalled rhythm section of drummer Reni and bassist Mani complemented by the sharp, varied tones of their multi-talented lead guitarist John Squire.
