Sir Peter Blake To Design Brit Awards 2012 Trophy

britsThe details for the 2012 Brit Awards have been announced, with actor and presenter James Corden returning to the host’s role for a second year in a row.

Earlier this year, the Brit Awards moved from its traditional Earls Court home to the O2 Arena, and it has been confirmed that venue will again be used for the 2012 ceremony which will take place on February 21st.

In another change from previous years, 2011 organisers announced their intention to invite a celebrated artist to design the awards, with Dame Vivienne Westwood taking up the request this time round.

Next year, Sir Peter Blake, the man behind the iconic ‘Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band‘ sleeve, will be the deisgner. “I am very proud to be this year’s designer for the iconic BRIT Award trophy,” Sir Peter has said.

“It is wonderful to be a part of this most important and exciting music event, honouring the greatest of talents shaping our musical landscape. I’ve enjoyed the creative challenge to honour such leading performers enormously.”

In one of the biggest surprises of recent years, Laura Marling took home the Best Female prize at last February’s ceremony.
