Albums released this year by British rock acts including Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys and Beady Eye have helped to boost sales of vinyl to the tune of 40% when compared to 2010.

Radiohead’s eighth studio album ‘The King Of Limbs‘ is the number one selling on vinyl format so far this year, closely followed by Adele‘s massive commercial breakthrough ‘21‘. Beady Eye, the band initiated by Liam Gallagher, Gem Archer and Andy Bell out of the ashes of Oasis, complete the top three with their debut ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding‘.

The list reflects the more traditional record buying habits of rock fans, with another popular UK guitar act, Arctic Monkeys, placing at four thanks to ‘Suck It and See‘.

Elsewhere, PJ Harvey‘s superb Mercury Prize-winning ‘Let England Shake‘ is the fifth top seller of 2011, with Bon Iver‘s sublime self-titled release one further place back.

To date, over 240,000 vinyls have been sold in the UK this year, already surpassing the 234,000 total amassed throughout the entire course of 2010.
