Kaiser Chiefs: ‘No-one Knows Our New Album Is Out’

Kaiser Chiefs have reportedly admitted the innovative approach adopted by the band when promoting their latest album ‘The Future Is Medieval‘ has back-fired somewhat, as fans are not aware the LP has even been released.

When unveiling their fourth studio effort earlier this summer, the Kaiser Chiefs asked fans to pick their own 10-song tracklist from a selection of 20, before the band released their own final version on June 27th.

However, bassist Simon Rix, quoted in the Daily Star newspaper, has said the headlines garnered by their unusual initiative has over-shadowed the final, physical version.

“The publicity around the ‘choose your own version’ overshadowed the CD so much that still no-one knows it’s out,” says Rix.

“Our record label wanted to release the CD in time for festival season so that everyone knew the new songs,” added frontman Ricky Wilson. “I can see that logic, but I’d have waited to release the CD until now, once everyone got their heads around the digital release.”

The Kaiser Chiefs will embark on a large UK tour from January 2012. Find tickets here.
