Want To Appear On a Flaming Lips Song? It’ll Cost $100

theflaminglipsThe Flaming Lips are offering fans the chance to be name-checked on a new six-hour long track – and it’s all in the name of charity.

The princely sum of $100 will be enough to secure a mention on the song ‘Found a Star on the Ground‘, which The Flaming Lips began recording around a week ago.

All proceeds from the new venture will go towards two charities based in the band’s home state – the Oklahoma Humane Society and the University of Central Oklahoma’s Academy of Contemporary Music.

It would seem the Lips’ frontman Wayne Coyne is already painfully aware of the huge task the group have decided to take upon themselves; simply writing recently on his Twitter account that it ‘Takes a long time to make a 6 hour song………………..’

So if you fancy sitting through six hours worth of music to catch your name being broadcast to the world, donations are being accepted at flaminglipssixhoursong.com.
