US talk show host Jon Stewart has lauded the influence of fellow New Jerseyan Bruce Springsteen on his life, saying his music was a source of huge inspiration when he was growing up.
The Daily Show star told Rolling Stone he ‘didn’t feel like a loser’ when listening to The Boss. “When I listened to his music I didn’t feel like a loser,” he said. “I felt like a character in an epic poem about losers.”
“You would go see his show and he would blow your mind for four hours,” he continued. “At a certain point, you’d want to go up onstage and be like, ‘Guys! It’s okay. I got my money’s worth, like, two and a half hours ago. Save yourself! I don’t want you to burn out. You’re giving too much! We do not deserve what you’ve done here tonight! A lot of us are jackasses’.”
Bruce Springsteen’s infamous long shows caused a headache for Michael Eavis in 2009, when his brilliant Glastonbury headline performance that year incurred a fine after Springsteen ran well over the curfew time.
