Primal Scream have been extensively touring their classic 1991 record ‘Screamadelica‘ this year but, in an interview with NME at last weekend’s Bestival event, Gillespie revealed those touring commitments have not got in the way of them pressing on with new material.
“We’ve recorded some new music, quite a lot of new music actually and written a lot of new music,” he said. “But we’ve been touring this ‘Screamadelica’ show for such a long time. We’ll continue working on the new material until the end of October and the winter. Hopefully we’ll have a new Primal Scream album out next year.”
However, Gillespie was quick to insist the completion of a new LP, which would be their first since 2008’s ‘Beautiful Future‘ is a way off yet, describing the record as currently being a “work in progress.”
