Huge Boost In Sales For PJ Harvey After Mercury Prize Win

PJ Harvey is already enjoying the traditional boost in sales which follows a Mercury Music Prize win, with online retailer Amazon reporting an increase of over 1000% in sales of ‘Let England Shake‘ since the album took home the award last night.

In the hours since yesterday’s announcement, the LP has jumped to #2 on the Amazon chart, unsurprisingly still behind Adele‘s huge selling ‘21‘, which was also nominated for this year’s coveted gong.

Meanwhile, PJ Harvey told the assembled press at last night’s (September 6th) London ceremony that she hopes to be in the running for the prize in another ten years, after she became the first act to win the award on two occasions, following a first win in 2001.

“I hope to be back here again in another 10 years’ time with another record because it’s very important to me to keep making work that is of relevance, not just to myself but to other people,” she said.

PJ Harvey proved the bookies right last night, being the odds-on favourite from the day of the shortlist’s announcement back in July.
