Guns n Roses and The Cure are amongst the acts nominated for the first time for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame next year.

Artists and bands who released their first single in 1986 or earlier are eligible for 2012, with the likes of Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Eric B. and Rakim, the Spinners and the Small Faces/Faces, all receiving mentions for the first time.

In addition, previous nominees Beastie Boys, Laura Nyro, War Donovan and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are also in with another chance of a place on the coveted hall of fame come the new year.

“The 2012 Nominees embody the broad scope of what ‘rock & roll’ means,” said Joel Peresman, President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. “From vocal groups to hip-hop, from singer-songwriters to hard rocking artists, this group represents the spirit of what we celebrate at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”

The act with the highest number of votes will be inducted at a ceremony on April 14th, 2012 in Cleveland, Ohio.
