For the first time since its inception in 1992, Mercury Music Prize organisers have revealed each of the 12 nominated acts will perform live at the ceremony this year.

As ever, the event will be screened on BBC Two at 10pm, hosted by Jools Holland, while BBC 6Music will provide coverage throughout the day.

Early favourite PJ Harvey, whose poignant, emotionally charged album ‘Let England Shake‘ has handed her a second nomination, remains at short odds with the bookies, currently standing at 11/8.

Since the shortlist’s announcement, Anna Calvi‘s odd have shortened to 5/1, making her second favourite, while James Blake and Adele, whose nomination for ‘21‘ has sparked some debate due to its already mass appeal and notoriety, both stand at 5/1.

Gwilym Simcock, like most of the award’s token jazz nominations, is by far the bookies outsider, with odds of 50/1 at William Hill as of today (September 1st).

The prize giving will take place at London’s Grosvenor Hotel on September 6th.
