When Dave Grohl almost single-handedly crafted what would become the Foo Fighters‘ debut album back in 1995, it must have been hard to imagine the monster, stadium-sized, three-man guitar attack of a rock band we recognise today, one which is no stranger to a sell out football ground or headline festival booking.

Even more extraordinary then that earlier this year, with the band arguably at its biggest and set to release seventh album ‘Wasting Light‘, with all its riff-laden, anthemic pretensions, the Foo Fighters should take more than a few giant strides backwards to become, for eight gigs at least, the best known garage rock band in the world.

Taking place between New York and Seattle during April 2011, lucky competition winners and 50 of their friends were asked to clear their garages of any needless clutter and treated to an unrivalled intimate experience with Grohl and co.

Over the course of the month, cameras were in tow to capture a truly fascinating tour documentary, which has now been released via YouTube for the rest of us to enjoy – happily this time without the smell of oil threatening to dampen the atmosphere.
