U2 frontman Bono has denied weekend press reports which suggested he had suffered a health scare while holidaying in the South of France.

The Irish Independent first made the claims yesterday (August 21st), reporting Bono had visited the Princess Grace Memorial Hospital in Monaco after complaining of chest pains. “As I understand it he was seen by a doctor – he is okay now but he got a fright,” they quoted a source as saying.

However, a spokeswoman has now released a statement to Reuters firmly denying any major issues surrounding the hospital stop, insisting it was merely a routine check up and that Bono is ‘in good health’

“Despite press stories to the contrary, Bono has not suffered a recent health scare,” the statements reads. “Reports of his being rushed to hospital for emergency treatment are untrue. Bono is in good health and enjoying a family holiday in the south of France.”

U2 recently wrapped up their massive 360 World Tour, which has become the highest grossing of all time, with a show in Canada.
