The Shins will release the long-awaited follow up to ‘Wincing The Night Away‘ sometime next year, according to Pitchfork.
The website reports the new album will be released through frontman James Mercer‘s own Aural Apothecary label, following the band’s long association with Sub Pop. Since the release of ‘Wincing The Night Away’ in 2007, Mercer has lent his hand to various other projects, most notably collaborating with Danger Mouse under the Broken Bells banner.
US fans will have a taster of the band before any potential new record next year, when The Shins embark on a series of US dates beginning in Eugene, OR next Monday (August 8th).
US tour dates:
August 8 – Eugene, OR – W.O.W. Hall
August 9 – Bend, OR – The Domino Room
August 10 – Portland, OR – The Doug Fir Lounge
August 12 – San Francisco, CA – Outside Lands Festival
September 22 – Toronto, Ontario – Phoenix Concert Theatre
