The Flaming Lips‘ headline appearance at the recent Osheaga festival in Montreal, Quebec was marked by an unusual encore to say the least when the band’s frontman Wayne Coyne ‘married’ a couple live on stage.

As the band prepared to bring their set to a close, which again featured a performance of the classic 1999 album ‘The Soft Bulletin‘ in its entirety, a couple dressed as characters from The Wizard Of Oz, named as Graham and Robyn, were invited to the stage, with Coyne declaring:

“By the power of The Flaming Lips, the universe and LSD, I now pronounce you man and wife!”

The couple were later married officially by a minister behind the festival’s main stage.

Wayne Coyne also told the audience The Flaming Lips’ performance at Osheaga, where they headlined along side Eminem and Elvis Costello, could be the last time ‘The Soft Bulletin’ is aired in full live.  “This is possibly the last time ever we’ll do ‘The Soft Bulletin’, maybe, I don’t know,” he remarked to the crowd.
