A new campaign has been launched which is aiming to assist the hundreds of independent record labels which have been gravely affected by the arson attack on the Sony distribution centre in Enfield during the recent disturbances in London.
With the loss of physical stock and the resultant drop in revenue streams being serious enough to throw the futures of some labels in doubt, the website LabelLove is now offering the chance to donate money in a bid to offset the immediate cash-flow problems.
“We’ve been amazingly inundated with offers of help and support on this idea, and we are going to concentrate on trying to organise a series of live events to help this cause,” commented Dan Salter, one of the campaign organisers. “Based on the offers we’ve had already, this is looking likely.”
A Twitter page has also been set up to provide all the latest news, while the hashtag #labellove will give fans the chance to add their support to the campaign.
