The Raconteurs will play their first gig in two years this September when they perform at the MI Fest in Brooklyn, Michigan.
The show will be the first action for the band, which consists of former White Stripes man Jack White, acclaimed US songwriter Brendan Benson, as well as Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler, since the conclusion of promotional duties for second album ‘Consolers of the Lonely‘, released in March 2008.
However, when speaking to Billboard recently, Brendan Benson has insisted the festival appearance does not mark a full-scale return for the band, with plans for a new album still very much up in the air.
“I don’t know when the next time we’ll all be available to make a record, or even talk about it, will be,” he said. “When we were founded it was whimsical and impulsive and spontaneous and all those words. I think it’ll always be that way.”
The Raconteurs released their debut album ‘Broken Boy Soldiers‘ back in 2006 which, led by the single ‘Steady As She Goes‘, enjoyed significant success on both sides of the Atlantic.
