Red Hot Chili Peppers have released the cover for their forthcoming album ‘I’m With You‘ (pic), which has been designed by respected British artist Damien Hurst.
The band unveiled the artwork via their official website with a note that reads: “Check out our new album cover – officially revealed! Damien Hirst did it for us and we’re happy to get this out to ya,” while frontman Anthony Kiedis told Classic Rock: “It’s an image. It’s art. Iconic. We didn’t give it it’s meaning but it’s clearly open to interpretation.”
The album will be their first with new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who joined in the wake of the departure of influential member John Frusciante, a move which bass player Flea recently admitted had a big impact on the group.
“The number one difference is John Frusciante left the band, and he was a huge part of our creative process for a long time. I’m so grateful for him,” he told Stereogum. “He just gave us so much as a songwriter, as a player, as a human being, and just his relationship to music, which is such a beautiful and pure and powerful one.”
‘I’m With You’ is due for release on August 30th with a single, ‘The Adventure Of Raindance Maggie‘, preceding on July 18th.
