Morrissey Fans Checked For Meat On Way Into Gig?

Fans attending a recent Morrissey gig in Middlesbrough were searched for meat on the way into the show, according to the Daily Mirror.

The paper quotes a gig-goer who claims after routine checks for alcohol, a member of the security staff then asked to rummage through bags to inspect the whereabouts of any errant fillet steaks.

“As you went into the venue you were funneled through to the top of some steps where they were carrying out searches,” the fan says.

“A member of the security staff then went through my bag and told me that they were checking to make sure that I was not carrying any meat products inside.”

A spokeswoman for the venue confirmed the searches for anything that could be deemed to be a weapon, but denied any knowledge of the meat hunt. “The search is for anything that can be thrown at the band such as alcohol, plastic bottles and even umbrellas,” she said.

“It is a pat-down and we ask people to take drinks in plastic containers. I did not know they were stopping sausages being taken in – that is a bit random.”

Morrissey has recently confirmed he has a new studio album ready for issue, but is waiting for the right record label to sign with before releasing.
