Arctic Monkeys To Start Major Label Bidding War?

Arctic Monkeys could start a mega-money scrap for their services once current contractual commitments to Domino Records have been completed.

The Sun newspaper claims the Sheffield band’s management are ready to listen to new offers from major labels following the completion of duties surrounding fourth studio album ‘Suck It and See‘, but have also apparently left the door open for a stay at their current home.

“The boys’ four-album deal is nearly finished and their management are ready to meet labels who fancy picking them up,” a source is quoted as saying. “Signing the Arctics would be a huge coup for anyone right now, because they are guaranteed to sell huge numbers.”

“They have a great relationship with Domino because the founder Laurence Bell has always given them a lot of creative control, and they could re-sign with the firm but now Domino face competition from the major labels, who are keen to wade in. It could be a huge bun fight.”

Arctic Monkeys’ quality and success has helped Domino Records become one of the most influential independent UK labels of recent times, with acts such as Franz Ferdinand, Villagers and Wild Beasts also contributing to the label’s glowing reputation.
