Singer Amy Winehouse has been found dead at her home in Camden, reports the BBC.

The BBC News website claims two ambulance were called to a London flat at 1554BST, but the singer was pronounced dead for reasons as yet unknown.

With her breakthrough album ‘Back To Black‘, released in 2006, Winehouse became one of the best selling, and highest acclaimed, British acts of recent years.

Singles such as ‘Rehab‘ and the album’s title track received much praise for their expert production and songwriting, but as her star continued to rise, Winehouse also increasingly fell victim to the trappings of her new found fame.

Amid constant tabloid reports of alcohol and drug problems, the singer was unable to follow up the album, and was recently ridiculed in the press for a messy and controversial attempt at a comeback in recent months.

Like too many troubled stars before her, Amy Winehouse has passed away at the age of 27.
