Mumford & Sons and the Foo Fighters have both landed nominations in the Best Rock Video category for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.
Mumford & Sons receive the nod for their scooter driving antics in ‘The Cave‘, while Foo Fighters’ typically light-hearted approach to ‘Walk‘ has secured their nomination.
Final confirmations include a very special performance from Guided by Voices – the band’s first performance in Europe since 2002, and their only planned reunion date in Europe in 2011; alt-rock legend, Lou Barlow’s Sebadoh (who replace Fang Island); plus White Denim who are playing music from their critically acclaimed forth album ‘D‘.
Albarn will set up base in the Congo with a selection of producers and artists who will aim to have a new album recorded within a week of their stay.
The project has been organised in conjunction with the Oxfam charity, who are likely to profit from the proceeds.
U2 paid tribute to the late, great Clarence Clemons last night (July 20th) by working in a short cover Bruce Springsteen‘s ‘Jungleland‘ in memory of the E Street Band‘s saxophonist, reports Rolling Stone.
With the Irish supergroup’s massive 360 world tour bringing them to Springsteen’s hometurf of East Rutherford, New Jersey, the band took the opportunity to give a nod to Clemons by including ‘Jungleland’ in their 2009 song ‘Moment Of Surrender‘ during the two-hour-plus set.
