U2 To Be Hit By Protests At Glastonbury?

U2 4120U2 could be hit by protesters later this month who are aiming to highlight the Irish supergroup’s ‘convoluted’ tax arrangements, claims The Guardian newspaper.

According to reports, the band will be met by a large bundle of fake cash when they take to the Pyramid Stage for their long-awaited headline bow at Glastonbury on Friday, June 24th.

Bono claims to care about the developing world, but U2 greedily indulges in the very kind of tax avoidance which is crippling the poor nations of this world,” said an Art Uncut spokesman, who are apparently leading the protest but have insisted they do not plan to disrupt the performance.

U2 first faced criticism for their tax affairs when part of their business was moved from their native Ireland to the Netherlands, though One, an anti-poverty charity co-founded by Bono, dismissed any notion of wrong-doing, saying: “U2’s business arrangements have nothing to do with illegal tax evasion and transfer mis-pricing in developing countries, critical issues which Bono and One campaign on.”

U2 will headline Glastonbury along side Coldplay and popstar Beyonce.
