The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers has said the Las Vegas band have ‘four or five’ tracks written for their new album, as they emerge from a short hiatus which began in 2010.

Flowers was speaking to Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe ahead of two London dates tonight (June 22nd) and tomorrow, in preparation for their major live return at Hard Rock Calling this weekend.

On the new material, Flowers remarked: “We have about four or five. We’ve put them up on the board and they’re sounding good. We think they’re strong.”

Since taking a break from band duties following the completion of touring commitments for their last album, 2008’s ‘Day & Age‘, both Flowers and drummer Ronnie Vannucci have launched solo careers, something which recent reports have suggested could lead to each band member performing a short stint alone during their upcoming headline gig at Hard Rock.

“Those first gigs will definitely be nerve-wracking,” admitted Flowers, whose band will top the Hard Rock Calling bill along side Bon Jovi and Rod Stewart.
