Nirvana‘s classic 1991 album ‘Nevermind‘ is to get the reissue treatment this September, to mark its 20th anniversary.

A new super deluxe edition will feature four CDs, unreleased tracks, b-sides, alternate mixes, rare live recordings and BBC radio appearances. A DVD will also be included of a previously unreleased concert.

Nirvana’s second album, ‘Nevermind’ ushered in a new era for rock music, backed by the massive hit single ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit‘, and brought so-called ‘grunge’ to the masses, in doing so ending the hedonistic, overblown ‘stadium rock’ period virtually overnight.

After making little impact on the US charts upon its release, ‘Nevermind’s unrelenting popularity over the course of the next few months saw it finally hit the top spot on the Billboard 200 at the beginning of 1992. In addition, the record peaked at #7 on the UK Album chart.

Other events to mark the album’s anniversary are expected to be announced over the coming months.
