Work on Florence & The Machine‘s new album could be finished by the end of next month, according to producer Paul Epworth.

The Machine’s leader Florence Welch has provided plenty of insight into the direction and making of the new record over the past few months and now Epworth, in speaking to BBC 6Music, has said the end is in sight, while also praising the talents of Welch.

“She’s amazing,” he enthused. “She’s worked really really hard to create such a big body of work, we’ve whittled a long list of songs to about 16. I just can’t wait to get it done. The record will probably be finished by the end of July.”

Epworth also went on to give his own take on the new material, hinting at a slight change of direction for the album. “At the moment I feel like the record will have a more stripped feel but it has a heavy rhythmic side to it,” he continued. “It’s a little less indie and a little bit more soulful.”

Florence & The Machine’s forthcoming album is one of the most anticipated releases of this year, following the run away success of debut ‘Lungs‘.
