Konk, the iconic London studio set-up by The Kinks in 1971 which has also been frequented by the likes of the Stone Roses and the Arctic Monkeys over the years, could be saved from its planned sale according to Kinks frontman Ray Davies.

Located in the Crouch End area of London, the studio was put up for sale last summer. However, Davies has now increased hope that the studio may retain its original purpose, with London 24 claiming the legendary songwriter has said he plans to record a new album there.

“It was up for sale but I’ve got another record to do so we’re debating what to do now. It’s open for discussion,” Davies said, while also recognising the heritage which would be lost with a sale:

“There’s a lot of history with The Kinks, we bought it as a hangout really, somewhere we could rehearse and record it and mushroomed into a studio,” he continued. “We’ve had some really good acts over the years come here. We’re doing the best we can.”
