The thousands heading to this weekend’s Isle Of Wight festival are likely to need to save room in the rucksack for a good raincoat as the UK’s festival season looks set to begin in fitting style, with heavy rain forecast for significant portions of the three days.

The Met Office predicts a largely dry day tomorrow, with the first downpours set to blow in as Kaiser Chiefs announce their return, continuing on throughout Kings Of Leon‘s headline set.

Although Saturday, when Foo Fighters will top a bill which also includes Pulp‘s comeback, is expected to stay dry, Sunday could see rainfall throughout the day, meaning major sets by Kasabian, Plan B and Beady Eye will be affected.

For those not planning to brave the elements, this year’s Isle Of Wight festival is to be broadcast in 3D, a first for Britain, when highlights are aired on the UK’s Sky network on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.
