The Killers drummer Ronnie Vannucci is to follow his frontman Brandon Flowers‘ lead by releasing debut solo album ‘Big Talk‘ on July 11th.
The album takes its name from the new band Vannucci has recruited for his solo project, who will precede the album’s release with the single ‘Getaways‘ on May 10th.
The record was recorded between November 2010 and January this year with The Strokes cohort Joe Chicarelli. After sessions in Las Vegas, the album was brought to England for mixing with Alan Moulder.
Big Talk will feature Vannucci’s close friend Taylor Milne, whom Vannucci described as an important contributor to the new tracks.
“Taylor really attacks things from a different angle,” he said in a statement. “All these really cool leads that you’ll hear on the songs are Taylor. We worked on it together, but it’s his take, so it’s very different. It sounds fresh to me.”
Vannucci, who first announced his solo plans during an interview with BBC 6Music last March, will return with The Killers for a headline appearance at this summer’s Hard Rock Calling event.
