Johnny Depp Writing Songs With Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler

Johnny Depp pictureHollywood star Johnny Depp has been recording tracks with Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, reports MSN.

According to the site, Depp told the US’ news show Extra he has been meeting with Tyler sporadically, which has resulted in the pair writing together.

“We’ve been hanging out here and there. He’s someone I’ve admired greatly for such a long time,” he said. “The idea of writing songs with him is a dream come true.”

Depp’s first dabble with show-business came as a guitar player with a succession of bands in the 1980s, before his move into TV acting and eventual movie stardom.

His association with music has continued throughout his film career, with several collaborations and guest appearances, including a spot of slide guitar on Oasis‘ track ‘Fade In-Out‘, which featured on their 1997 album ‘Be Here Now‘.

Meanwhile, Steve Tyler has said his debut solo single was rejected by his Aerosmith bandmates when it was first written. “They didn’t like it, so I just kept it for the last couple of years,” he told Rolling Stone.

The track is set to be unveiled on American Idol this week.
