Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson reportedly needed treatment from paramedics after collapsing shortly before the finish of the gruelling London Marathon last weekend.
The Sun newspaper claims Wilson collapsed around two miles before the finishing line and, after recieving first aid, was unable to complete the race.
If Wilson’s Twitter account is anything to go by, a lack of preparation may have played a significant role in his failure to finish; last Saturday (16/4), the day before the marathon, Wilson wrote: “Is it too late to start training?” While on the morning of the race he simply stated he was ‘going for a run’.
Like many who take part in the annual marathon, Wilson had been running in order to raise money for a chosen charity, in his case the Alzheimer’s Society, after bandmate Nick Hodgson‘s father was recently diagnosed with the disease.
Tom Smith and Russell Leetch of the Editors also took part, and managed to complete the full 26 miles.
