Foo Fighters To End Adele’s UK Chart Reign?

foo fightersFoo Fighters could be set to end British songwriter Adele‘s record breaking run at the top of the UK Album chart this week, with their seventh album ‘Wasting Light‘ ahead of ‘21‘ according to midweek figures.

Sales released today show ‘Wasting Light’ is 23,000 units ahead of Adele, who is in turn outselling the Glee Cast‘s latest Volume collection by 19,000 units.

Since performing her track ‘Someone Like You‘ live at last February’s Brit Awards, Adele’s sudden level of mainstream success has had records tumbling; she recently surpassed Madonna‘s 20-year record for the most consecutive weeks at the top by a female artist, while last Sunday ’21’ achieved the longest run at number one since Bob Marley & The Wailers’ ‘Legend‘ in 1984.

Further down the charts, Metronomy and TV On The Radio‘s respective new albums look like landing respectable Top 20 places when the new chart is announced on Sunday, while Bob Dylan‘s new live album is also on course to break into the coveted Top 40.
