Bloc Party To Begin Work On New Album Later This Year

Bloc Party guitarist Russell Lissack has told NME the band plan to end their hiatus this autumn by starting work on a new album.

Following the release of the album ‘Intimacy‘ in 2008 and the stand-alone single ‘One More Chance‘ in 2009, the indie group played their final gig to date in Bournemouth before going on the unspecified hiatus. Now, after several side projects including frontman Kele Okereke‘s 2010 solo record ‘The Boxer‘, it seems new Bloc Party material has once again become the priority.

“Kele and I started working on Bloc Party stuff together and separately,” Lissack said. “We’re having a bit of a break until the festivals are over, because people have commitments during the summer, but we’re going to get back properly in September and sit in a rehearsal studio to work on new band material.”

Last month, Ash frontman Tim Wheeler gave the first hint of Bloc Party’s return when he confirmed his own band would begin looking for a new guitarist after Lissack finished his short stay with the Irish group.
