Britpop survivors The Bluetones have announced they will split up following the completion of their forthcoming UK tour.

The band will embark on the farewell tour throughout September, beginning with a date at the Yeovil Orange Box on the 3rd. After visiting cities including Liverpool, London and Sheffield, The Bluetones’ final gig will be at the Birmingham O2 Academy on September 22nd.

Formed in London in 1993, The Bluetones achieved commercial success at the height of Britpop with the release of their excellent 1996 debut album ‘Expecting to Fly‘. The record’s second single ‘Slight Return‘ became one of the defining anthems of the era and handed the band their biggest chart hit when it peaked at #2 upon its release.
