Fans hoping for a first taste of new Coldplay material at this June’s Glastonbury festival could be disappointed if an always-reliable Daily Star source is to believed. Upon the recent announcement confirming Coldplay will top the bill at Worthy Farm, rumours the band may launch their new album in a similar fashion to their 2002 performance at the event surfaced, however a ‘source’ told the paper: “There definitely won’t be anything new before Glastonbury and their summer dates.”

Former Guns n Roses guitarist Slash has labelled actor Charlie Sheen as ‘the most rock n roll character in entertainment today’ in the wake of recent tabloid headlines. During an interview with Sydney’s Triple M, Slash declared: “I love Charlie. Charlie is probably the most rock n’ roll character in entertainment today. All things considered he’s probably been having a hard time recently with all the bad press and everything.”

Noah & The Whale will release new album ‘Last Night On Earth‘ next week, who’s title is taken from the band’s poignant first single ‘L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N‘, who’s tone and lyrics make it one of those rare tracks boasting a message which can be taken and interpreted a thousand different ways. As frontman Charlie Fink croons ‘On my last night on earth/I’ll pay a high price/to have no regrets/and be done with my life’ it’s enough to tug at even the stoniest of hearts.

Justin Bieber has received support from an unlikely source this week, Foo Fighters frontman and NME’s newly crowned Godlike Genius Dave Grohl, who offered some back-handed praise to the singer after witnessing his effect at close quarters: “My daughter Harper, who is not even two, can sing that Baby song,” he told the Daily Star. “So whatever that dude did to brainwash the world with that crazy, music he does, God bless him, ya know.”

For this week’s free mp3s follow the links to Kyla La Grange‘s ‘Courage‘, b-side to the attention grabbing single ‘Walk Through Walls‘, and a Neon Trees remix of Jon Fratelli‘s track ‘Santo Domingo‘.

The 2011 MTV EMA‘s will be held in Belfast’s Odyssey Arena on November 6th, it has been reported this week. “Belfast’s vibrant nightlife and compelling music scene, known for fostering emerging artists and turning out international chart toppers, provides the perfect backdrop for one of the world’s biggest nights in music,” said Antonio Campo Dall’Orto, executive vice president of music brands for Viacom International Media Networks. “The spirit of Belfast combined with our expertise is the perfect foundation for an unforgettable event and unique night.”

As rumours surface this week that Ray Davies could be ready to reform The Kinks without brother Dave, here’s a dip into the vaults for a classic live take of 1968 single ‘Days‘.
