Slipknot’s Corey Taylor Not Joined Velvet Revolver, Band Insist

VelvetRevolverVelvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan has said the band are still to appoint a new lead singer, despite strong rumours that Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor had been picked to replace Scott Weiland.

Back in December, the band’s drummer Matt Sorum appeared to suggest a decision had been made, but McKagan has now echoed Sorum’s insistence that no official announcement is ready to be released.

“There is no status,” he told Rolling Stone. “I’m painfully aware of Corey Taylor, I was asked about 1,000 times about it. I do think Corey Taylor is probably the brightest dude that has been in front of a mic for a long time. But saying all that, no, there is no Velvet Revolver singer.”

Former Guns n Roses guitarist Slash revealed the rock supergroup’s plans to find a new frontman in October 2010, as they look to begin work on their first album since ‘Libertad‘ was released in 2007.
