Promoters of a special charity event in aid of the victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, initiated by members of Beady Eye, have slammed touts who have made tickets available on auction sites at a vastly inflated price.
British rock n roll royalty including Paul Weller, Richard Ashcroft and Primal Scream are set to join Beady Eye at the show, of which all official profits are to go to the British Red Cross’ Japan Tsunami Appeal. Now, promoters SJM Concerts have condemned those looking to make a cheap profit at the expense of the charity.
“We strongly disapprove of profiteering from the misery and suffering of the people in Japan,” they told BBC Newsbeat. “It is very disappointing that one secondary reseller and eBay continue to offer these charity fundraiser tickets.”
They added that the the touting of tickets for the charity gig is ‘highly distasteful’ and revealed they have asked hosting outlets to ‘delist the event’.
The one-off show will take place at London’s Brixton Academy on April 3rd.
