Bon Iver, led by songwriter Justin Vernon, have announced details of their new album, to be released in June.

The as-yet-untitled record is the follow-up to 2007′s ‘For Emma, Forever Ago‘ and is set to include ten new tracks. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Vernon explained the relatively long wait for a new release, and revealed he ‘forgot how to write songs’ during the intervening years.

“Somewhere along the line I forgot how to write songs,” he said. “I couldn’t do it anymore with a guitar. It wasn’t happening. I brought in a lot of people to change my voice – not my singing voice but my role as the author of this band, this project.”

Later, Vernon also talked through the inspiration for the album’s writing, which will focus on a specific place on each individual song, such as ‘Perth‘, which Vernon described as ‘a Civil War-sounding heavy metal song. It’s sort of chaotic, dense, jarring.’
