The Strokes plan to embark on a world tour in support of their forthcoming new album, according to the band’s guitarist Albert Hammond Jr.
The group has previously been cagey when asked about their touring plans for 2011, but in an interview with DJ Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 as the band unveiled new single ‘Under Cover Of Darkness‘, Hammond Jr. shone a more positive light on their future schedule.
“I see us completely making music together,” he said. “I see us doing a world tour in balance with a new record. We’re going to tour.”
Later, Hammond Jr. added that the well-publicised delays which the band suffered during the recording of new LP ‘Angles‘ had made he and his fellow band-members appreciate the band much more.
“Like you have no idea,” he declared. “All of that, if anything, gave you perspective on what I find so beautiful about The Strokes. It really is something bigger than one person – a combination of things which couldn’t happen without us.”
‘Angles‘ is due for release on March 22nd.
