The Flaming Lips are to release a new box-set collection of their Warner Brothers albums in conjunction with this year’s Record Store Day on April 16th.

The albums will be issued under the title ‘Heady Nuggs: The First 5 Warner Bros. Records 1992 – 2002‘, and will include ‘The Soft Bulletin‘, ‘Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots‘, ‘Hit to Death In the Future Head‘, ‘Transmissions From the Satellite Heart‘ and ‘Clouds Taste Metallic‘. Later this year, ‘Zaireeka‘, which isn’t included in the new collection, will be re-worked for a special release as a mobile phone app.

Fans will be given the choice of two versions to purchase, with a Standard edition featuring the five LPs on 140-gram vinyl, while a Special Limited Edition box-set will offer the five records in different colours. The Flaming Lips’ management have urged buyers to move quickly, as “once they are gone, they are GONE, so don’t delay; these will sell out.”

The Flaming Lips are set to hit the road for large periods in 2011, as they continue to perform their 1999 album ‘The Soft Bulletin‘ in its entirety. The expected run of gigs was kick-started by the band at the New Years Eve Freakout in Oklahoma City last year.
