After vowing to put their feet up for an extended spell on the sidelines following their UK festival shows last summer, The Cribs have revealed they will turn their backs on daytime TV shortly for a ‘handful’ of summer gigs, and will then begin work on their fifth studio album.

In a statement released today, the Jarman brothers, together with former Smiths legend Johnny Marr, announced Scotland’s RockNess event as the first of their new shows, and also confirmed plans to record a new album.

“Despite currently being on a break, unfortunately the Cribs are not superhuman and still have to eat, therefore they will be playing a handful of summer festival shows this year before heading into the studio to work on their fifth album,” the statement read.

“The first show to be announced this summer is RockNess Festival in Scotland where the Cribs headline the tent on Saturday night.”

Ignore The Ignorant’, The Cribs’ first LP with Marr, was released in 2009, peaking at #9 on the UK Album chart.
