Radiohead have announced they will release their new album this Saturday (Feb 19th), via a post on their official website.
The new record, entitled ‘The King Of Limbs‘, is now available to pre-order at Thekingoflimbs.com, and will be released for download on Saturday. A physical release, described as a ‘newspaper album’, will then follow on May 9th, in a package which will contain CD, two 10-inch vinyl records and artwork sheets.
The new album, the band’s eighth studio effort, is the first since 2007’s ‘In Rainbows‘, a record which also garnered headlines for its innovative method of release. Issued as a digital download in October 2007, fans were invited to pay whatever price they wished for the LP, before a physical format followed at the end of the year.
‘In Rainbows‘ continued the group’s run of critical and commercial success, entering the Album charts on both sides of the Atlantic at number one, while gaining a Mercury Music Prize nomination in the process. Radiohead lost out to Elbow at that ceremony, but did take home the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album in 2009.
