The Mystery Jets have said they are planning to record the follow-up to last year’s ‘Serotonin‘ in America, as they hope to channel the influence of classic US artists.

Blaine Harrison told XFM the band have been taking in seminal American acts such as Crosby Stills & Nash and Emmylou Harris, and will now decamp to Texas to work on new material.

“I think we’re listening to a lot of American bands, a lot of American rock music, and a lot of country stuff – I’m listening to a lot of Gram Parsons, Crosby Stills & Nash and Emmylou Harris,” he said. “We’re renting out a big house with a porch in three acres of forest in Austin, Texas. And the idea is to go there and set up a little studio and see what comes out. We’re going to be quite free about it.”

Serotonin‘, Mystery Jets’ fourth album, was released to warm critical response in July 2010 and featured on Live4ever’s Essential Listening rundown last December.
