Folk rockers Mumford & Sons have been writing the follow to their ever-growing debut ‘Sigh No More‘ while on tour in the US, according to band member Ben Lovett.
While discussing the band’s recent US tour with MTV News, Lovett revealed tracks have been crafted in Nashville, and will be brought together for a new album once the band are ‘ready’.
“It’s pretty surreal,” he said. “We’re just trying to keep our heads down and figure it all out, as much as we can. We’ve been writing, up in Nashville. We wrote a bunch of new tunes, and we’ll continue to do that. We’re going to tour them in, and when we feel ready, we’ll put the second record together.”
Meanwhile, despite the seemingly constant awards and accolades being afforded to the band’s debut, the latest of which came at this week’s Brit Awards, frontman Marcus Mumford told MTV he feels the group are still very much in the early stages of their career, and have much left to achieve.
“We’re a very young band,” he said. “We only have one album: We’ve got a lot more work to do, a lot more shows to play, but we don’t want to attach our identity too much to this whole parade, because we know quite clearly what we want to do and why we do it, but we’re just going to try to enjoy it.”
‘Sigh No More‘ remains in the top 20 of the UK’s Album chart well over a year after its release, and is expected to receive another sales boost thanks to the Brits triumph.
