Graham Coxon Confirms New Blur Recording Sessions

Blur guitarist Graham Coxon has revealed the band’s four members have been meeting with a view to recording new material for some time now, but warned fans the sessions are unlikely to result in an album any time soon.

Coxon boosted hopes of the first new record featuring Blur’s original line-up since 1999 when writing on Twitter earlier this month: ‘now off to see the Blur boys and have coffee and maybe switch a tape recorder on!’

Now, the guitarist has confirmed to NME that these meetings take place on a regular basis, but does not constitute a determined effort to create a new album.

“Every now and then we like to meet up and record a few things,” he said. “We just do stuff when we feel like it. “I suppose it might turn into an LP in six years or something. Meeting up every now and then maybe turning the tape recorder on and jamming around a few ideas.”

Graham Coxon’s latest album to date with Blur, ‘13‘, was released in March 1999. The band went on to release ‘Think Tank‘ in 2003 after Coxon had departed the group.
